Dear Property Owners/Business Owners,

 

On Monday Dec. 8th, 2014 the Rahway City Council passed ordinance O-042-14 on second reading.  This ordinance will expand taxing authority, known as SID (Special Improvement District).  This will include not only the original SID area of the downtown of Rahway,

but will  expand through the entire City of Rahway.  

According to the expansion list provided by the City, your property may now be included .

 

We are opposing this expansion and are requesting your assistance as this will directly 

affect you and all Business property owners. This will add an additional tax to your property tax bill.  Currently this will be approx. 0.351 per $100 of your assessed value of your property value.  Based on $100,000 property value, you will be assessed an additional $351.00.  

This rate could be increased to 7%.

 

We feel that the City has over-reached it's authority and misinterpreted state law.  

We have contracted an attorney and are looking for more property/business owners that feel the same as we do and are willing to help support our cause.
